Purely Payroll is an independent payroll bureau and bookkeeping practice based in East Yorkshire. The principal is Sarah Meek MCIPPdip, MICB PM.dip. We work with sole traders, owner managed businesses, charities and SMEs across Hull, Beverley, Driffield, Bridlington, Goole and the wider East Riding, with most of our clients now working with us remotely.
Why Purely Payroll exists
Having come from a large practice background, I wanted to be able to work more closely with clients to give them what they actually wanted, which was, and still is, fully personalised and dedicated support covering the entire payroll spectrum.
I was convinced there was a need for outsourced payroll services that offered a little more in terms of dealing with the specifics of a real payroll, with all the varying complexities of staffing, contract arrangements and legislative requirements that involves. It comes down to an understanding of what a client really wants from a payroll service. Businesses are simply groups of people, and one size does not, and never will, fit all.
How we work
Clients range from one employee businesses through to payrolls of more than a million pounds. The principles are the same in either case. Effective communication, transparent pricing, and the time taken to brief and prepare for any change in circumstance, whether that is a new starter, a regulatory shift or an audit window.
Friendly advice and guidance is just as important as dealing with the paperwork. Most clients say the difference is being able to pick up the phone and speak to the same person who actually does the work, every time.
Credentials and regulation
Sarah Meek holds the MCIPPdip qualification from the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals and is a qualifications tutor with the CIPP, training the next generation of payroll professionals. The practice is licensed and regulated by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers under Practice Licence Number 17284, which means we are insured, supervised for anti money laundering, and held to ICB professional standards.
Studies are ongoing. We are currently working through Self Assessment Taxation, with the intention of bringing tax return preparation in house. Until that qualification completes, Self Assessment work is referred to a trusted local accountant.
What we offer
Payroll processing on weekly, fortnightly and monthly cycles, with payslips, monthly summaries and P45 and P60 management. Auto enrolment pension administration including scheme setup, declaration of compliance and ongoing submissions. Bookkeeping to trial balance, VAT returns under Making Tax Digital, credit control, fixed asset register maintenance and final accounts for sole traders, partnerships and not for profit organisations, with Independent Examiner work where the constitution requires it.

Our office is at Moat House, Main Street, Welwick, HU12 0RX. We work primarily with businesses in Hull, Beverley, Driffield, Bridlington, Goole and the East Riding of Yorkshire, but most of our clients now work with us remotely using cloud accounting and payroll software, so location is rarely a barrier.
