Payroll Services for Accountants

Payroll services for accountants can give your practice extra delivery capacity without requiring you to build or expand an internal payroll team. Purely Payroll provides an agreed accountant-led or white-label payroll service for accountancy practices that want support with routine client payroll processing.

Every arrangement is scoped before work begins. We agree who communicates with the end client, how payroll data is approved, which documents are returned, what branding is used and who is responsible for each deadline.

A payroll service that fits your client relationship

Some accountancy practices want to remain the sole client contact. Others want a payroll bureau to handle agreed routine payroll queries directly. We can discuss either approach, provided the operating model, authorisations and responsibilities are clear from the start.

Depending on the agreed package, the payroll work can include:

  • gross-to-net payroll calculations;
  • PAYE and National Insurance calculations;
  • Real Time Information submissions to HMRC;
  • employee payslips;
  • starter and leaver processing;
  • P45 and P60 production where required;
  • statutory payments and agreed deductions;
  • workplace pension and automatic-enrolment payroll support; and
  • agreed payroll reports for your practice or client.

The accountant or employer supplies complete, approved payroll information by the agreed cut-off. Purely Payroll processes the services in scope and returns the agreed outputs through the chosen working process.

White-label payroll support with clear boundaries

A white-label arrangement should be clear to everyone involved. Before onboarding, we document:

  • which business owns the client relationship;
  • whether communications use Purely Payroll, accountant or neutral branding;
  • who can approve payroll information and changes;
  • the secure method used to exchange information;
  • payroll cut-off and approval deadlines;
  • the reports and employee documents required;
  • how routine queries and exceptions are handled; and
  • how the service is priced and invoiced.

This avoids making assumptions about software integrations, direct employee support or client-facing branding. Each of those points is included only where it is confirmed in the service agreement.

Support for weekly and monthly client payrolls

We can discuss weekly and monthly payroll work, including portfolios with different pay dates, where the volume and timetable are suitable. The first step is to understand the number of employer schemes, typical employee counts, payroll frequencies and level of change in each run.

For firms that already process payroll internally, we can also discuss whether Purely Payroll should take on a defined group of clients or provide capacity for an agreed service line. We will not describe a transfer as complete until the records, responsibilities and first-run checks have been agreed.

How the accountant payroll service starts

1. Portfolio and scope review

We review the number and type of payrolls, pay frequencies, typical headcounts, pension arrangements, usual reports and recurring deadlines.

2. Operating model

We agree whether the service is accountant-led, white-label or uses agreed direct contact. Branding and communication responsibilities are recorded rather than assumed.

3. Data and authorisation process

We confirm how approved client data is supplied, who authorises each payroll and how completed outputs are returned.

4. Controlled onboarding

We obtain the records needed to set up each agreed scheme and check the first payroll timetable before routine processing begins.

Our outsourced payroll services page explains the core processing service. The switching payroll providers page covers the records normally needed for a handover.

Why work with Purely Payroll?

Purely Payroll is led by Sarah Meek MCIPPdip, AICB PM.dip and focuses on payroll as a core service. The aim is to give your practice a documented working process, clear deadlines and an agreed route for routine payroll delivery.

We will confirm whether the proposed accountant or white-label model fits our current capacity and service scope before accepting a portfolio.

Frequently asked questions

Can Purely Payroll provide a white-label payroll service?

Yes. White-label support is available where branding, communication, responsibilities and authorisations are agreed before onboarding.

Can our practice remain the main client contact?

Yes. An accountant-led model can be agreed so that your practice remains the main contact and supplies approved payroll information.

Can you communicate directly with our payroll clients?

This can be discussed. Any direct contact, query handling and branding must be defined in the agreement rather than assumed.

Do you integrate with our practice software or client portal?

We confirm the data-exchange method during scoping. This page does not promise a particular software integration or portal connection.

Can you handle both weekly and monthly payrolls?

We can discuss both frequencies. Suitability depends on the number of schemes, employee volumes, cut-off dates and services required.

Discuss accountant payroll support
